Project Hope has developed a unique model that provides solutions for homeless mothers and children to help them become self-sufficient. We place homeless families in fully furnished two bedroom, two bathroom apartments with kitchens, appliances, new mattresses, cribs for babies and more. The families avoid the stigma of living in a shelter as our transitional apartments are located within our Hope Villas apartment complex located at 830 NE 28th St, Ocala, Florida. The first month is free for clients. After that, clients pay a subsidized, low cost program fee to cover a portion of the cost of rent and utilities. After the women secure employment, the fees are increased until they are able to pay the market cost of the apartments. This model helps women save funding for future living expenses but also encourages them to become financially stable as soon as possible. We provide comprehensive services including counseling, financial skill development and trauma recovery services. We employ an on-site experienced case manager and outsource licensed mental health counseling as necessary. We also work with a vast network of community organizations that provide services to help meet each family’s individual needs for health, dental, educational needs. Twenty five of our 40 units are currently dedicated to serving homeless women and children through our non-profit organization, Project Hope. To expand its mission, Project Hope satisfied its property mortgage in December of 2018, enabling the organization to convert more of its market-priced rental units each year into new transitional housing. As Project Hope works to convert all of its units into transitional housing, it is also expanding its resources and programs that help ensure that families find permanent housing.
